orslips were the first band to successfully fuse traditional Irish music with rock; never afraid to experiment they came up with an astonishing array of pieces during the '70's. It didn't always work, of course, but when it did the results were spectacular. And then, in 1980, they decided they'd had enough; at the end of a final barnstorming gig in Belfast Charles O'Connor threw his violin into the crowd, walked offstage and went to the pub...
