Motörhead

Out of the night comes a song that I know, twisted and ruined and black

I can remember the people they were, nobody knows if they ever come back

Lost in the ashes of time they still sing, echoes of romance gone bad

I can remember them better than you, I shared the darkness they had

Dead and gone...

ore a physical manifestation of the Chaos Theory than a rock band, Motörhead have been horrifying and alienating large sections of the public with their improbably loud version of rock 'n' roll since their inception in 1976 and show little inclination of going away...

Their reputation precedes them - the Church's very own Priest Vladko travelled from Brno, Czech Republic to Munich for the 04.11.00 gig and being a scrupulously honest member of our organisation answered truthfully the border guards' question "Why are you travelling to Munich?": "To attend the Motörhead concert" answered our boy Vladimir. "Stop the engine and get out of the car." was the border guards' response...

Mainman Lemmy was born in 1945 - as far as he can recall - and seems to get worse with every passing year, instead of mellowing gracefully into old age. There are innumerable legendary stories about Motörhead, a few of which hopefully have been made up...

Lemmy's secret of longevity seems to have been summed up in the quote:
"I've done every drug on the face of the earth, except one (heroin), which is why I'm still alive while so many other "rock stars" have died."

As for the Holy Sacraments, Lemmy was once asked by an interviewer:
"When was the last time you were sober?".
Lemmy turned to his partner-in-crime, Fast Eddie, and asked:
"Eddie, when was the last time we were in jail?"

Should you really wish to understand what rock 'n' roll is, and why Motörhead have been on the road for 25 years, playing thousands of gigs and not wanting to stop, go see them play. Listen to them burning through songs like Stay Clean or Going to Brazil. You will achieve enlightenment - but don't plan on being able to function the next day...
(As the Church's own Prelate Thomas remarked after the 04.11.00 gig : "Now I understand what tinnitus is...")
